The snow will fall, the ground gets cold,

A baby’s born who will grow old.

A blanket of snow covers the ground,

Still the answer is not found.

A bird will chirp, the grass grows green,

And through the clouds the sun is seen.

The flowers bloom, the bees will buzz,

The world again as it once was.

The sun will shine, the day is long,

The birds they sing an endless song.

The sky is bright, the color blue,

A child knows who never knew.

A breeze is felt and with a chill,

The song has stopped that never will.

The leaves will fall, the color red,

A whistle of the wind is all that’s said.

Why it happens all this way,

That is not for me to say.

A baby’s born who someday dies,

But from the clouds the sun will rise.

Egypt… Balad 7abeeba !!

About a month ago, me and one of my relatives who was visiting from abroad, were in one of Cairo’s most famous mall having our lunch. A very funny comment was made by her after scanning the walkers who passed by… “Masr balad 7abeeba awy !! Its full of so much couples.”

Sure enough… If you looked around you would find alot of couples and lovers walking around the mall and surprizingly of almost ALL ages !! Ages starting from 12 years old (I am not exaggurating!) walking around normaly… Some of them are married, while others are engaged, and the rest, which are the majority, are all just ‘metsa7been’.

I came to think about it, it is true, and if my relative made this comment that means that in other countries, couples aren’t found that often as they are found in Egypt. The problem is that our youth are so interested in very uneducated topics at wrong ages !! It is very normal that at a certain age boys and girls to have a feeling of attraction towards each other but whats not useful is to follow this feeling into a very unknown and failure path. We get so caught up with who likes who and who has a crush on who at very early stages of life, forgetting that there are more important things that have to be done. The stage of our life which is called “Teenage Hood” is not for getting girlfriends and boyfriends or flirting with the opposite sex, and it is not as some people assume “Fatra te3eesh 7ayatak”. For everything there is a time. The time to get into a relationship with someone has its time, but not now. We are young, healthy and unexperienced. We only have one responsability which is putting basics for our future careers. My point is not to make the idea of relationships wrong, but is to take the more important things in life more seriously during that time.

If we can put our interests into something more useful and important, I think we may succeed in so many things. But in the end, Rabena Yewafa2na. :)
